Tusnin Alexander Romanovich - Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Professor, Director of the Institute of Industrial and Civil Engineering, Head of the Department of Metal and Wood Structures of the National Research University of Moscow State University of Civil Engineering.
In 1980 he graduated with honours from the construction faculty of the Perm Polytechnic Institute, specializing in industrial and civil construction and qualified as a civil engineer. After graduating from the Institute, he served two years in the army in officer positions in the military construction unit and participated in the construction of the Surgut-Polotsk oil pipeline, reconstruction of the Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Plant, construction of the rail-fastening workshop at the Nizhne-Saldinsk Metallurgical Plant.
After serving in the army in 1982 he began to work as a lecturer at the Perm Polytechnic Institute in the Department of Building Structures as an assistant.
In 1990, after full-time postgraduate studies at the Central Scientific Research Institute of Building Structures named after V.A. Kucherenko, he defended his PhD thesis in the specialty 05.23.01 "Building structures, buildings and constructions".
From 1991 to 2000 he worked as a senior lecturer and associate professor at the Brest State Technical University at the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture.
In 2004, after full-time doctoral studies at the National Research University of Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, he defended his doctoral thesis "Calculation and design of structures made of thin-walled bars of open profile" in the specialty 05.13.01 "Building structures, buildings and constructions".
Since 2003, he has been working at NRU MSGU as an associate professor and professor of the Department of Metal Structures. From 2012 to 2016 - Head of the Department of Metal Structures, from 2020 to 2022 - Vice-rector for scientific work of NRU MGSU. In 2022, he was appointed as the Director of the Institute of Industrial and Civil Engineering and Head of the Department of Metal and Wood Structures of NRU MGSU.
He actively participates in research and design work carried out at NRU MGSU and research organizations in Moscow. Research activity is connected with the development of new forms of metal structures of buildings and constructions, the basics of their calculation and design, the formation of numerical methods of stress-strain state analysis, taking into account the nonlinearity of thin-walled structures and constrained torsion of open profile rods. Important directions in scientific activity are the study of stability of load-bearing systems to progressive collapse at local damages, use of carbon fibre reinforced plastic for reinforcement of metal structures. By results of the executed works 5 computer programmes are developed and included in the register of state registration, 2 monographs and 120 articles are published, author's certificates and patents for 4 inventions are received. He is one of the developers of the current norms for calculation and design of steel structures. He represents Moscow State University of Civil Engineering in the Steel Construction Development Association (SCDA), where he works in the scientific, educational and engineering centres. He is an editor and one of the authors of the textbook "Metallic Structures" in 2 volumes (2020 edition), used by students of construction universities. Since 2022 supervises the work of SC20 "Metallic Structures" TC465 FAU FCS.
He is a scientific supervisor and consultant of 3 candidates and 1 doctor of sciences, at present he is a scientific supervisor of 6 postgraduate students.
In addition to teaching and scientific work, participates in the design and construction of a number of objects, in particular:
- Multifunctional residential complex "Tricolor", 2 Rostokinskaya Street, Moscow;
